Fort Wilkins Park features camping, day-use facilities, a restored 1844 military outpost and Copper Harbor Lighthouse, one of the first lighthouses on Lake Superior. Some of the main things to do in Fort Wilkins State Park include camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, biking, paddling and cross-country skiing. You can also go through a historical interpretation, visit the history center, or participate in the living history program.
Fort Wilkins State Park and campground are open year-round daily from 8:30 am to dusk. The campground is very large and offers a lot for campers. There are sites available for everything from a tent to a large RV. They have winter sites, mini cabins for rent and group spaces. There are electrical sites, public washrooms, showers, boat launch, concession store, and sheltered picnic areas available for use.
