Nagagamisis Provincial Park is located on Hwy 631 north of Hornepayne, Ontario. Visitors will love this park for its secluded lake and great fishing for walleye, northern pike and yellow perch. There are hiking trails, a children's playground, a beautiful sandy beach, and excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Equipment rentals, day use and overnight camping available.
Did you know that real Winnie from the Winni-the-Pooh series is originally from White River, Ontario? Visit Winnie the Pooh Park makes for a lovely rest stop for leg stretch and picnic. Just steps away from the Tourist Information Centre. Don't forget to take your photo at the historic Winnie-the-Pooh statue.
Scenic High Falls of the Magpie River is a roaring waterfall located just south of the town of Wawa off Trans Canada Hwy 17. Follow the 1.5 mile gravel road to the bottom of this impressive waterfall. You will find ample parking, a covered area, and interpretive signage.
This provincial park is home to Aubrey Falls, a stunning remote waterfall located in the Mississagi Valley along Hwy 129. It's what you would say, a complicated waterfall, meaning there are a many cascades rushing over the rugged Canadian Shield flowing into the Mississagi River below. As a non-operating park, there are no services but it has ample parking and privy facilities. The hiking trail is well-marked with signage including a Group of Seven interpretive panel. This is a non-operating park. There are no activities or facilities at this park.
The Algoma region truly loves winter and snowmobiling! Their trail system consists of over 2,000 miles of groomed trails carved through the rugged Canadian Shield and old growth forests. It's a Sledders Paradise: No traffic, friendly faces, awesome trails and sled friendly accommodations. The snowmobile season lasts longer than other parts of Ontario, usually well into late March.
Located on Hwy 11 East, the Welcome Centre is the place to visit to plan your stay. It is opened all year long from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During the summer, it is opened from Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our team will be happy to provide all relevant information to your stay regarding the many activities and services provided in our community as well as our region.
The trailhead is located across Highway 17 from the Pancake Bay campground. The trail is 6 km out and back through lush forest to a set of stairs and up to the Edmund Fitzgerald Lake Superior Lookout. Two platforms offer views of Lake Superior and Pancake Bay. It overlooks where the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in 1975.
This Group of Seven interpretive panel is located at Pancake Bay Provincial Park. The interpretive installation depicts the paintings of Harris and MacDonald that incorporated all the elements of the surrounding landscapes. Sit and look over the site that inspired these incredible works of art.
The scenic harbour and inland islands of Rossport provided inspiration to Lawren Harris and many contemporary painters to the Group of Seven. You’ll find an interpretive installation in Wardrop Park as well as the start of the Rossport Coastal Trail, which winds its way for 1.5 km along Lake Superior to the Roadside Park Rest Area. After visiting the park, stop by the government dock for a view of Quarry Island from a vantage point close to where Harris painted Rossport, Lake Superior in 1921.
Follow Michipicoten Harbour Road to the Sandy Beach parking area. After parking, a boardwalk will lead to the beach. Dip your toes in the crisp waters of Lake Superior and find the stunning sight of a Group of Seven interpretive panel.
