Named in honour of an early fish researcher, this public park is open for recreational activities. Campsites, some with hydro, water and septic hookups, are available for a fee. Picnics and local events are held under the large pavilion.

The Mattawa River Cottage - Private waterfront property. Located on the historic Mattawa River, overlooking the Ottawa River and nestled beneath the breathtaking Laurentian Mountains. Western exposure with incredible sunsets. Excellent fishing in both rivers. Quiet area, playground across the road and all the amenities of a small town are only minutes, or walking distance away.

Bellevue Park

Bellevue Park is Sault Ste. Marie's main passive park. It is 17 hectares in size and offers a large playground area, 2.4 kilometres of asphalt walkway, multiple floral beds and a display greenhouse which is open to the general public. The playground area features the new Adventure & Sensory Playground.

Whitefish Island

Whitefish Island is located in Sault Ste Marie in Ontario’s Algoma Country. It is a 0.62 mile (1km) long teardrop-shaped island. The Island is just across the and can be accessed by footbridge. The island is a fantastic place to explore the walking trails that take you along the St Mary’s River. Whitefish Island was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1981 because of the pre contact remains found there and the Aboriginal encampment.

Here, on a flat sandy delta, lie the ruins of a French trading post that operated from the early 1700s until it was abandoned by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1904. Park Facilities and Activities The park has no visitor facilities, but is a good spot for nature viewing and hiking. This is a non-operating park. There are no activities or facilities at this park.

White Lake Provincial Park

White Lake was established as a Provincial Park in 1963, making 2013 our 50th anniversary! We are a Natural Environment class of Park and we are well known for our fantastic fishing (especially the Walleye!). White Lake Provincial Park is situated in pristine boreal forest, 35kms west of White River, Ontario and is well worth the trip, no matter where you are driving from.

Hattie Cove Campground

The perfect camping destination for a family vacation, Hattie Cove campground is a short drive from the Trans-Canada Highway. It offers 67 vehicle-accessible campsites in Pukaskwa National Park’s front country with unparalleled solitude and privacy.

Campsites are designed to accommodate one motor vehicle and up to six people in two tents or one trailer/recreational vehicle with an additional tent or dining shelter.

Campsite check in and check out times are 11:00 a.m. Campsites at Hattie Cove campground are available on a first-come-first-stay basis.
