Gordon A. Schlichting, a Minneapolis architect, carved the Mermaid while he was a student spending the summers on Rainy Lake. Located in Silver Island Narrows, near Copenhagen Island, the Mermaid watches over the comings and goings of the lake. 

A short (0.35 km) boardwalk and natural path loop for walking and biking, the Lily Creek Boardwalk is a great place to see the local birds and amphibians. Located next to the James Jerome Sports Complex.
