Today you will experience two of Canada’s coolest sights: the tidal bore in Truro and the Confederation Bridge that connects Prince Edward Island to mainland Canada via New Brunswick.

Leaving from Oak Island, you’ll drive northeast to your ultimate destination of Charlottetown. On the way, discover the town of Truro, located on the Salmon River, and see how the power of the incoming Bay of Fundy tides creates a tidal bore – a phenomenon where the tide reverses the natural flow of a river.

Mahone Bay

Soak up the views in scenic Mahone Bay where it is possible to take a boat ride or paddle the waters in a kayak. The picturesque villages and towns along the shore are a joy to explore, with quaint shops, excellent dining and welcoming locals.

Lunenberg

Head to Oak Island next where you'll be spending the night. Take a walk around the island and check out the Stone Wall on the southwest side, The Hatch on the northwest side, and the Stone Triangle on the southeast side! 

Peggy’s Cove

Start your East Coast journey on Nova Scotia’s south shore. A short drive from Halifax will take you to Peggy’s Cove, home of the province’s most famous lighthouse.

The Cobalt Historical Society is a volunteer non-profit corporation that was established in 1999. We are a member of a joint-venture partnership with the Town of Cobalt and Coleman Township. Together our mission is to preserve and promote the mining heritage of the area.

Erland Lee (Museum) House

Come for a tour of the homestead that served the Lee family for six generations, spanning over 160-years. This historic home and beautiful grounds was the birthplace of the world’s first Women’s Institute and largest rural women’s movement. They provide custom tours focusing on the history of the Lee Family and their unique contribution to the Women's Institute’s founding. The Lee family recognized the need for rural women to be educated, particularly in the area of domestic science.
