It is ran by Louise Thomas, wife of the renowned and influential First Nations artist Roy Thomas. He was famous for his colorful woodland aboriginal art that has a lasting influence on many artists to this day and the many that he mentored.

On occasion, a lucky individual might see American White Pelicans which sometimes make Caliper Lake their home.
