Our Story

Kicking Mule Guest Ranch, has been a family-owned and operated business that's been kickin' for over 25 years on Manitoulin Island. From May to October, we've got 12 unique guest accommodations available, each with its own picnic table, fire pit, and sitting area. Our fully equipped outdoor summer kitchen features hot water on demand, propane cook stoves, and a BBQ grill, while our modern bathhouse boasts two individual washrooms, a shower, and an outdoor sink.

There are twenty-two kettle lakes in the area that were formed by glaciers. These lakes are deep and are fed by springs. The forest in the area is mainly Jack Pine Boreal Forest. If you enjoy fishing, you'll be glad to know that many of the lakes are stocked with Rainbow and Brook Trout, making for excellent fishing. Additionally, there are fourteen kilometers of biking trails to explore. For families, there are also interpretive programs available.

Ivanhoe Lake offers four campgrounds: Red Pine, Le Rivage, White Birch Hill and La Baie; over half of the campsites have electrical services. Many campsites provide a spectacular view of the lake while others can offer you a more secluded camping experience. Amenities include two comfort stations, laundry facilities, vault privies, water taps, picnic areas, pet beach, fish cleaning station and two beautiful beaches, one of which offers a children’s playground.

Open year-round! Our 1 and 2 bedroom fully-equipped cabins are surrounded by Crown Land, along the Murdock river, as it enters the top of the French River, making it the perfect location for hunting and fishing. We have a private boat launch on site, providing the only access to the Murdock River. There is a public boat launch across the road, providing access to the French River. Great Escape Cabins is minutes away from the C Trail, offering grocery packages and supplies to snowmobilers. Satellite TV and propane BBQ’s are included with each cabin.
