Mission Island Conservational Area

An area treasured by locals, it is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located at 106th South Street, Thunder Bay, the island is conveniently located for locals and tourists. View the Sleeping Giant while exploring the paths and boardwalks and view and experience wildlife up close—the island is home to hundreds of migratory birds and a healthy deer population. Many visit the island solely to see the deer. Be sure to bring the camera along to capture your encounters!

This deli in Hearst offers fresh premium meat, grocery with fruits & vegetables and is a take-out restaurant with grab and go meals, delicious desserts, packaged and frozen options. Gluten-Free and Lactose-Free products are available.

Take-Out Menu includes poutine, fries, burgers, wings, fried chicken meals and Grab & Go is usually an assortment of sandwiches.

Algoma Highlands Wild Blueberry Farm & Winery

Algoma Highlands Wild Blueberry Farm and Winery is a 640-acre family farm located in Wawa, Ontario. It uses an old tree nursery to process and ship wild blueberries and makes a variety of products like wine, jams and sauces. The site is a unique geological one, consisting of 100% sand being old Lake Superior beachfront from times gone by, which is ideal for the encouragement of wild blueberry plants. There is a strawberry U-Pick each harvest season and the farm offers winery tours which include wine-tasting in their gift shop.

Katherine Cove

Katherine Cove, located in Lake Superior Provincial Park, is a sheltered bay on the Big Lake. The turn-off to the rest area is well marked and visitors are greeted to ample parking, restroom facilities, a soft sandy beach, and interpretive signage.

The Foster Parkland and Walking Trails

Managed by The Kensington Conservancy, the 3.5 km of hiking trails is open 24/7 for the public to enjoy. The trails are considered a moderate hike with some steep but brief inclines and rocky portions. The trails lead to scenic lookouts overlooking the Portlock Flats and Lake Huron, and there is signage to teach you about the local flora and fauna.

Leashed dogs are allowed on the trails and please pick up after your dog.

The Black Bear Cafe and Eatery

A great place to meet. You'll be welcome by the warm, friendly atmosphere to relax, unwind and enjoy an excellent coffee. Serving breakfast and lunch, the menu include sanwiches and burgers, salads, Roman style pizza, homemade pastries and fresh baking.

Old Woman Bay

Located in Lake Superior Provincial Park, along Trans Canda Hwy 17, Old Woman Bay is a beautiful, natural site. A long sandy beach greets visitors from the ample parking area. This day use area is a great for a leg stretch, a day of swimming, or a picnic spot.

Fushimi Lake Provincial Park

Visitors to Fushimi Lake Provincial Park will find a clean, clear northern lake against the backdrop of a lush Boreal Forest. There is camping for everyone: RV sites, tent & trailer sites, or backcountry sites. The park is day use and overnight camping. Excellent swimming, wildlife viewing and hiking. Experienced hikers will enjoy the Fire Tower Trail (7 km return).
