Portage Bay Lodge is one of Northern Ontario's oldest operating campgrounds. Built in 1947 by the Chitaroni Brothers, today it features the Main Lodge, a Marina, 10 log cabins and over 50 trailer sites all overlooking the beautiful Montreal River /Portage Bay.
The lake's shallow waters warm quickly in summer offering a swimming alternative to the persistently cold Lake Superior. The sand/gravel matrix of the shoreline, coupled with the past practice of importing sand, created a series of beaches and swimming areas.
Whether you are planning a fishing or hunting trip or a family vacation, it will be hard to find a more suitable place than Okimot Lodge. Each of our fully equipped cottages is right on one of the finest natural sandy beaches in the area providing a spectacular view and an ideal site for those evening campfires. Within a 1/2 km of downtown Temagami on the shores of picturesque Cassels-Rabbit Lakes, is Northland Paradise Lodge. You can find Mississagi Provincial Park in the Penokean Hills, within a 15-minute drive north from the city of Elliot Lake. The park is classified as a Natural Environment Park because of its significant, preserved natural features, such as its rolling hills, forests, lakes and streams. It was established in 1965 and consists of 4,900 hectares of pristine wilderness.
