A perfect little spot to stop and fuel up after some incredible riding. Thanks to some recent work, a lot of the roads in this area have been freshly repaved—and they are lovely winding, sweeping curves all the way from Highway 400 to Highway 11. This is a quiet area, allowing you to enjoy the scent of the boreal forest, the lakes and streams dotting the landscape as you ride, and the small towns dotted along the way.
Named after former NHL’er (and owner) Walt McKechnie, it's well known by travellers and locals alike for its wide variety of grub, and truly satisfying mains.
The oldest Provincial Park in the province, Algonquin is an institution. The drive through it is truly great, especially in fall when the colours are at their peak. But slow down and you’ll find some of the best biking and hiking trails in Canada, backcountry and full-amenities camping sites, amazing wildlife viewing and photography opportunities, and so much more. Even if you’re only stopping for a jump in a lake—you’ll be transformed by this vast wilderness.
Enjoy the quintessential Muskoka experience at Deerhurst. If you’ve got time for a bit of play, there’s canoeing and trails, but if you just want an incredibly tranquil and well-appointed spot to enjoy the lakeside vibe, Deerhurst is the place for you. Their on-site restaurants and bars will ensure you can get some downtime in before hitting the road.
Midway on Highway 518, Sprucedale is the perfect spot to fill up, check out some local colour, and take a walk back in time. The Sprucedale Hotel opened in 1899, and not a thing has changed.
Pure, simple, and delicious. It started out as a Sunday drive but the owners fell in love with Rosseau and stayed to open this top-notch restaurant. They pride themselves in buying and using local products and supporting our local food suppliers.
With its amazing view of the Bracebridge falls, restaurant and bar, and quaint rooms, this is the perfect getaway.
Huntsville is within a stone's throw of Arrowhead Provincial Park and the biggest stop before heading into Algonquin Provincial Park from the west. While it does offer everything you need to stock up for a cottage or camping vacation, the dining, shopping, and entertainment options of the vibrant downtown make it a destination in itself.
