The Munising Visitor Center has a wide variety of local information such as the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Hiawatha National Forest, maps, and they even sell tickets for Pictured Rocks Cruises. There is also a selection of local and regional art, souvenirs, and gifts available.

Soo Locks Visitor Center

The Soo Locks Visitor Center is fittingly situated in the Upper Canal Park. The Park serves as an excellent place to watch passing boats going through the Locks at the observation platform. The Visitor Center is a great place to stop and ask for information on the Soo Locks, the surrounding area and everything it has to offer. A number of displays chronicle the construction of the Locks as well as thirty minute movie that details the history of this maritime marvel.

Head to the Visitor Centre to chat with staff about the Group of Seven, and to access the awe-inspiring vistas that drew Lawren Harris and the Group of Seven back to this area for many years. Take a mid-way hike break with expansive panoramic views at the gazebo which is in the middle of the 9 km round trip hike on the Pic Island Overlook Trail. Find a Moments of Algoma interpretive installation which highlights even more details about the Group of Seven and their treks along this same landscape.

Trek the Lake Superior shoreline when you travel the Voyageur Trail from Pukaskwa National Park to Pic River.  While still within the park check out Horseshoe Beach where the Moments of Algoma interpretive panel features A.Y. Jackson’s painting Entrance to Puckasawa Bay, c 1960. Though spelt differently at the time than the current National Park name, this painting can be found in the permanent collection at the Art Gallery of Algoma in Sault Ste. Marie.

Visit the recreated boxcar #10557 that was used in the TVO Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven documentary. This boxcar provides insight into the life the Group would have lived while painting in remote, rail access areas.

A replica of a fire ranger's lookout station that provides a 360-degree, panoramic view. Observe the area's former mine sites that are now returned to their natural state, take in breathtaking scenery and a glimpse of Manitoulin Island on the North Channel of Lake Huron.

Duke Hunt Historical Museum

Duke Hunt Historical Museum

Located on Rosslyn road, the Duke Hunt Historical Museum (formerly known as the Paipoonge Museum) preserves the memory of early settlers, showing the hardships and pleasures they experienced in their new community. Named Duke Hunt after the original curator H.K. Hunt, it reflects his passion to preserve local history and generous collection donations of his own artifacts.  The museum was created in a spare room in the Slate River School and later the present building was erected to house the museum collection.

Kakabeka Falls Provincial Park

Known as Niagara of the North, Kakabeka Falls drops 40 metres over rock cliffs and some of the oldest fossils in the world. Check out the view from platforms and trails along the gorge or trace voyageur routes around the falls in this history-rich park. Features walking and nature trails in summer and groomed cross-country ski trails in winter.

Pagoda Visitor Information Centre

Thunder Bay’s Tourist “Pagoda” can rightfully claim its place in history as Canada’s oldest continuously operating tourist bureau. This Chinese-like structure dates back to 1909. Amongst its modern neighbours and overlooking Thunder Bay’s marina, the Pagoda has continued to greet visitors for more than a century.
