Within a 1/2 km of downtown Temagami on the shores of picturesque Cassels-Rabbit Lakes, is Northland Paradise Lodge. Directly in front of the lodge is the White Bear Old Growth Forest, a 2,000 acre (800 hectare) ancient ecosystem of giant red and white pines (up to 5 feet or 1.5 m in diameter). There is a variety of at least 25 different species of rare northern orchids.
