Horseshoe Beach is in Pukaskwa National Park on the sandy shore of Lake Superior. A boardwalk from Hattie Cove Campground leads you to this secluded beach. Golden sand and glistening emerald waters greets you. It’s the ideal place for a picnic on some sun soaked driftwood or building a sand castle. The beach is surrounded by incredible and varied hiking opportunities that this National Park has to offer.
Located in Thunder Bay and named after the well-known natural wonder, the Sleeping Giant Brewing Company offers a selection of beers that will delight novice and sophisticated drinkers alike. Explore inside the 550 foot (170m) long Valley Camp Great Lakes Freighter. This unique Maritime Museum has over 100 exhibits inside its 20,000 square foot cargo hold. Some items exhibited are historical artifacts, paintings, recovered shipwreck items, and two lifeboats from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald wreck. Valley Camp was originally christened the S.S. Louis W. Hill in 1971 and was in service on the Great Lakes for almost 50 years. It was then purchased by Le Sault de Sainte Marie Historical Sites Inc during the city’s tri-centennial celebration in 1968.
Munising Tourist Park Campground is located in Munising on the shore of Lake Superior. The park offers 127 scenic campsites with full, partial and rustic tent sites. Amenities include 20/30/50 amp service, dump station, free WIFI, modern restrooms and showers. Close to Pictured Rocks and Grand Island Cruises.
Soo Locks Campground is situated along the beautiful St. Mary's River. The campground offers 100 sites just a short distance to the Soo Locks. This is a ideal camping site to watch freighter go by. Amenities include water and electrical hook-ups, pump-out station, restrooms, camp store and a game and recreation room.
On the shore of Lake Superior, at Perry Bay, on route to the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park you’ll find a stone Sea Lion. The 15 metres of sedimentary rock that juts out of the mainland has been shaped by the waves of the Lake Superior to offer the region an attraction like no other. This site is a must-see while hiking Tee Harbour or camping at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park.
The Sleeping Giant, one of Canada’s seven wonders calls Thunder Bay it’s home. The view of the rock formation from the city of Thunder Bay appears that the rocks are a giant taking a long over due slumber. Many legends and stories have formed surrounding the Giant over time. These stories not only offer great insight into the past of the region but can also help strengthen your connection to the indigenous history of the region.
If you want an adventure, then Silver Falls is your destination. Silver Falls is within Silver Falls Provincial Park, 35 km northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario. This pristine fall is a trek to get into, and out of, but it is the perfect destination for those that would like to do backcountry camping. The trail begins with a steep descending section with a rope to aid hikers.
Keewatin Beach is located on the shores of Lake of the Woods off Beach Road in Kenora (Keewatin). It's easy to find, just turn off Highway 17 west onto Main Street, then right (west) onto Beach Road. There is a nice small sand beach, washrooms, play structure, dock to jump off of, and picnic shelter.
This park offers a camping experience fit for everyone with large RV sites, car camping, and yurts with over 3 km of sandy beach and clear clear blue water.
